Notice

Former Peguis Chief Louis J. Stevenson has legally filed a Notice of intention to act in person in regards to his appeal of the St. Peter's Illegal Surrender Per Capita payment vote on June 13, 2009.   The announcement of Mr. Stevenson's notice, would see him representing himself in the continuation of legal proceedings.

To date the Peguis Illegal Surrender settlement, after incurred expenses would have provided the Peguis Community with a 118 million dollar trust, enhancing on and off reserve services, housing, construction of the new arena and paid out the $1000.00 Per Capita payment to each band member.  Since June 13, 2009 the Peguis First Nation has lost an estimated 4 million dollars in interest alone, due to the appeal of Mr. Louis Stevenson which could have been used to support many community initiatives.

The Judicial review proceedings are still currently in progress.
