A COVID-19 Response and Isolation Complex has been delivered to the community to help those members in isolation. The complex features 10 large COVID-19 Isolation Units, 1 Office Unit and 10 washrooms is located at the old Peguis Arena site.
Project funding was provided by Indigenous Service Canada (ISC), Peguis Surrender Trust and the Community Well Being department. Indigenous Service Canada (ISC) approved funding for the isolation units in order to give people infected with COVID-19 an opportunity to self-isolate in their home community, while also keeping the rest of the community safe from contracting the virus.
The COVID-19 Response and Isolation Complex will remain in the community after the pandemic is over.
Peguis Chief and Council want to acknowledge the hard work by Mabel Morin, Justice Coordinator, for making this project possible. Leadership also wants to thank Indigenous Service Canada (ISC), Peguis Surrender Trust and the Community Well Being department for funding this project.
