Parents/Guardians,
RE: Kindergarten to Grade 6 Covid-19 Rapid Testing Kits
As part of the initiative led by First Nations Health Branch, Manitoba Education and Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, the Peguis Central School will be delivering free Covid-19 Rapid testing kits for children ages 5-11. This is strictly a preventative measure to ensure and avoid infection and spread of Covid-19 and the variants of concern in our school.
The kit is only to be used when a child does not have any symptoms and has not had any exposure to a confirmed case of COVID 19. If your child has Covid-19 symptoms you must contact Health Professionals or seek medical attention.
The testing package contains the instructions of how to administer the tests. Each kit contains 5 tests to be administered every 2 days over a ten-day period. Parents will be required to administer and monitor any rapid tests to ensure safety and avoid contamination of results. Our children’s safety and health are paramount to all, and participation will give the parents piece of mind and may ease anxiety through the holiday period.
Your child’s participation in this test is voluntary, however students are strongly recommended to participate as the Covid-19 variants are rising and the focus is to avoid infection being brought into the school.
Buses will be delivering the kits with instructions to the homes on December 27 & 28, 2021. Parents must be available to sign for the kits upon delivery.
These testing kits are an extra tool for our community to use and are a part of our defenses toward eliminating and managing through the pandemic.
Attached are the correspondence that accompanied the initiative from Manitoba Health and Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs for the parents to read.
Should you have any concerns or questions in regard to the rapid tests please contact Dr. Jordyn at Jordyn.Lerner@sacisc.gc.ca
