On Friday, September 27, 2013, Minister Kevin Chief visited Peguis First Nation. Minister Kevin Chief stopped in at Country Rock Radio for an on-air interview to answer some community submitted questions followed by a quick tour of Peguis including the new Peguis Arena site. Peguis Headstart provided a lunch of stew and bannock to Minister Kevin Chief, Deputy Minister Jan Sanderson, the Minister’s assistant Sarah along with staff and other invited guests.
A presentation at the Peguis Community Hall began at 2:00 p.m. to introduce the new department for Children and Youth Opportunities. This department focuses on maximizing positive opportunities for Manitoba’s children and youth. Kevin Chief was appointed Minister of Children and Youth Opportunities by Premier Greg Selinger on January 13, 2012. MLA Tom Nevakshonoff also stopped in to show his support and speak to community members.
