Peguis First Nation, in partnership with Eastern Interlake Regional Health Authority, Ongomiizwin Health Services, Interlake Reserves Tribal Council and Indigenous Services Canada are deploying a mobile testing unit to Peguis to support the response to COVID-19.
The drive up rapid testing site will be located at the Peguis Multiplex and will be operational starting Sunday, September 13, 2020, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The testing site will also be open daily after Sunday, starting Monday 10am to 4pm. The test site will also be able to serve people presenting without a vehicle.
The rapid COVID-19 test will be available for individuals named as close contacts and those experiencing symptoms. Individuals who would like to be tested will be screened to determine if testing is warranted.
Individuals who are contacts of a case have been notified by public health and local nursing staff. If you have not been notified then you haven’t been named as a contact but you should continue to monitor for symptoms and immediately self isolate, should symptoms arise please call (204) 645-2869.
In addition to the mobile testing clinic, the rapid Covid-19 testing unit at Percy Moore Hospital will remain available. A similar testing service is available in Fisher River for their community members.
Members experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or who were immediate contacts to the two cases in PEGUIS, can go to the Peguis Multiplex to get their rapid test done.
Please bring your Manitoba Health card with you to the mobile clinic.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can vary from person to person. Symptoms may also vary in different age groups. Some of the more commonly reported symptoms include:
•new or worsening cough
•shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
•temperature is equal to or over 38°C
•feeling feverish
•chills
•fatigue or weakness
•muscle or body achesa
•new loss of smell or taste
•headache
•gastrointestinal symptoms (abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting)
•feeling very unwell
Members must wear a mask when they drive up to the test site and remain in your vehicle. Traffic control will be provided.
