The Interlake Midget League came to a season finale with the Peguis Midgets capturing the Interlake Regional Minor Hockey Midget ‘A’ Banner. The Peguis Midgets met up with Fairford Mustangs in the league championship play-offs, which went to a third and final game, with Peguis winning 9-4 in a hard fought game and an electrifying series of play-off hockey.
Peguis’ path to the Banner was hard fought and a battle as they took on Arborg in the first series of play-offs. After taking out Arborg in two games, Peguis awaited Lake Manitoba Eagles for the next level of play-offs. Lake Manitoba finished first in the league and were a formidable force throughout the year. Peguis Midgets looked for determination and grit to get them through the second level of play-offs and managed to pull off two wins against Lake Manitoba Eagles. The Banner was within reach and the Peguis Midgets were filled with confidence and belief in their skills going into the championship round against the Fairford Mustangs.
