Peguis First Nation has become a lead community in the fight against COVID-19 throughout this pandemic. With constant adaptation, improvements and a consistent message about safety, our community is now taking its next strategic decision in opening our own drive-thru COVID-19 testing site in the community.

The drive-thru testing site is a partnership between Peguis First Nation, Interlake Regional Health Authority and First Nations and Inuit Health Branch.

On Monday, November 2, 2020, Peguis Public Health frontline workers commenced training to run, test and collect COVID-19 samples. This initiative will allow Peguis First Nation to open and run a drive-thru testing site, with local frontline workers, whenever a COVID-19 case occurs in the community.

When it comes to the safety of our members, our community, there is no limit to our strategies in reaching that goal,” said Chief Glenn Hudson. “By training our own frontline health and safety workers to run, test and collect COVID-19 samples when needed, we will gain another valuable tool to fight this pandemic.”

Drive-thru Guidelines: Anyone who is symptomatic or a contact of a positive COVID-19 case can proceed to the drive thru testing site at the Peguis Multiplex. Please call ahead to schedule. Drive slow and remain in your vehicle, traffic signs are in place along with staff to direct traffic.
