Referendum Vote Results

On Thursday, May 17, 2018, a community referendum vote was held to designate Peguis reserve land at Fuller Road in East Selkirk.

Results:

A. The Peguis First Nation (the “First Nation”) is a Band within the meaning of the Indian Act (the “Act”);

B. The Council of the First Nation is the council of the Band within the meaning of the Act;

C. Pursuant to subsection 38(2) of the Act, a band may, conditionally or unconditionally, designate, by way of a surrender to Her Majesty that is not absolute, any right or interest of the band and its members in all or part of a reserve, for the purpose of its being leased or a right or interest therein being granted;

D. On May 17th, 2018, a referendum (the “Referendum”) was held in accordance with the Indian Referendum Regulations to determine if a majority of eligible electors of the First Nation voting at the referendum were in favour of designating the Lands, or such part of it as may be set apart as reserve, for the purposes, and on the terms and conditions set out in the Designation Document;

E. 462 eligible electors of the First Nation voted at the Referendum and 431 voted in favour of the designation
