BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Peguis Child & Family Services is one of ten agencies within the Southern First Nations Network of Care mandated to provide programs and services to our people that protect our children, promote family wellness, and strengthen our community.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide child protection and family services to Peguis First Nation membership and to all other nations that may request our services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Positive relationship building with clients and collaterals.
Providing mandated child protection and family services.
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills; interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
Demonstrated ability to budget and teach independent living skills.
Case management according to standards.
Ensure culturally appropriate services.
Ability to handle crisis situations in an appropriate manner.
Provide reports bi-weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS

A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a vehicle are required.
Exceptional crisis intervention and risk assessment skills.
Knowledge of the Manitoba CFS Act & the Foster Family Manual is an asset.
Knowledge of collateral services / community resources and how to access these services are required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate is required; a post-secondary certificate or diploma related to children or youth care is an asset.
Experience working with or raising children is required.
Valid class 5 driver’s license and a vehicle are required.
