On Friday, May 11, 2012, United Nations Special Rapporteur Mr. Olivier De Schutter arrived in Peguis First Nation. He is an independent expert appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council. His visit was part of a Flood affected tour through First Nations Communities, which the Rapporteur will examine and report back on a country’s situation or a specific human rights theme.
In attendance, were the United Nations Special Rapportuer Mr. Oliver De Schutter, other United Nations Delegates, The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) Grand Chief Derek Nepinak, Southern Chiefs Organization Grand Chief Morris Swan-Shannacappo, Peguis First Nation former Chief Glenn Hudson, and elders.
