Early Wednesday, October 18, 2017, an intense windstorm reached Peguis First Nation bringing strong winds and damaging property throughout the community. The force of the winds caused a newly erected structure for public works to fall to the ground. The windstorm also helped spread destructive grass fires, keeping firefighters from both Peguis First Nation and neighbouring Fisher River Cree Nation busy.
