Youth Movement Coordinator

Purpose:

Peguis First Nation is one of the largest First Nations in Manitoba. Peguis has a need to develop and promote healthy youth programing for all ages.

Job Duties:

The Youth Movement Coordinator will create a positive environment where youth can gather and socialize and engage in activities free of alcohol and drugs. To promote health and personal growth through leisure and recreation experiences, which contribute to the maintenance of physical, social, emotional and mental well-being of our youth. The Coordinator will be required to write funding proposals so that the PYM will become self sustaining. The Coordinator will plan safe and fun Friday night activities, which may extend to other days, depending on funding acquired.

Experience:

One to two years recent experience working with individuals/groups in a recreation environment.

Education:

Minimum Grade 12 diploma, First Aide/CPR

Qualifications and Skills:

Knowledge of current trends and practices in recreation and leisure services for the youth. Knowledge of community recreation facilities and services. Knowledge of basic computer applications. Ability to communicate effectively – verbally, person to person, by telephone and in writing. Ability to assist and train volunteers while they are involved in recreation services. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. Valid Class 5 drivers licence, ability to obtain a Class 4 as will be necessary for position
